Punctuation & Symbols

. , ’ ; : ! ?

Punctuation is the difference between typing words and typing real text. The common marks — period, comma, apostrophe — sit near the home row and deserve regular practice.

The everyday marks

Comma, period, and slash sit on the bottom row under your right hand; the apostrophe and semicolon sit just right of the home row. These show up constantly, so train them like letters.

The shifted symbols (! ? : " and the number-row symbols) follow the opposite-hand Shift rule, exactly like capitals.

Tip: Apostrophes and commas are everywhere — drill them, don’t avoid them.
