Bottom Row Keys

Z X C V B N M

The bottom row is the awkward one — the keys are tucked under your palms and the reaches feel cramped at first. The good news: these letters (Z, X, Q) are rare, so a little practice goes a long way.

The downward reaches

Curl each finger down-and-in to its bottom-row key: the F-finger covers V and B, the D-finger covers C, the S-finger covers X, and the pinky covers Z.

Keep your wrists level. The temptation is to drop the whole hand to reach down — resist it, or you lose your home-row anchor.

Don’t over-drill the rare keys

Z and X show up rarely in English, so they need accuracy more than speed. C, V, B, N and M are common enough to matter — give those the reps.

Tip: Bottom row rewards accuracy over speed — slow down and hit it clean.
